Di Guoyong DVD translations, other skills
All the video material is available for free directly from Di Guoyong's website or on youtube. I no longer sell the DVDs online, though I have some that I sell during my seminars.
E-books of my translation of the set of ten videos, available together or separately. The DVDs do have 'English' subtitles, but I really recommend my translation anyway, if you want to know what he is really saying.
The e-book downloads are the second edition, updated in 2006 to bring the terminology in line with the Di Guoyong On Xingyiquan books.
Download the table of contents, glossary, and title pages free. These pages come with the complete book but are not with the separate translations.
DVD 06: The eight skills, 'bazi gong', of Hebei style xingyiquan, explained and demonstrated in much detail by Di Guoyong. Di shows full speed, explains clearly, and the the video shows slow motion. Also includes the eight skills connected routine. This one is long because he is so clear on every single one of the techniques. He really wants you to get this, and there is quite a lot involved, these are among the more advanced techniques of xingyi. Run time 72 minutes.
DVD 07: The 'mixture of moves', 'zashichui' routine of Hebei style xingyiquan, explained and demonstrated in much detail by Di Guoyong. Di shows full speed, explains clearly, and the the video shows slow motion. This is the traditional long routine of xingyi, and shouldn't be learned until you know the five techniques and the twelve animals. Run time 58 minutes.
DVD 08: The 'eight postures' routine, 'ba shi' of Hebei style xingyiquan, explained and demonstrated in much detail by Di Guoyong.
Also included in the video is the Protect the Body paired routine "anshenpao".
Di shows full speed, explains clearly, and the the video shows slow motion. The eight postures routine is a traditional short routine of xingyi. It is a really nice little routine still at the basic level, but with a few cool techniques and some new ideas in footwork. You should learn this routine before the partner routine, anshenpao, to get comfortable with the footwork. Run time 58 minutes.
DVD 09: The twelve animal techniques, 'shi er xing', of Hebei style xingyiquan, explained and demonstrated in much detail by Di Guoyong. Di shows full speed, explains clearly, and the the video shows slow motion. He takes his time to explain all twelve animals clearly (he is more lively in person than on video, taking the best of the attitude and movement of each animal).
There is also a combined routine shown, but not explained. This combined routine is a good performance routine, as it has a lot of variety.
Run time 69 minutes.
